Check out the new St. Johns County Black Heritage Trail

Last year, I had the privilege of serving as a consultant with the St. Johns Cultural Council to produce a guide to the county’s Black history. It was an exciting opportunity but also a challenging one, given the breadth of history in and around St. Augustine. From Fort Mose to the presence of Gullah Geechee culture, and everything in between, you can learn a little about it in this publication. I am especially proud that a more complete history of Florida Memorial College’s contributions to the city’s civil rights history is included. I’m very proud of the final product. Visit the website or take a look at the guidebook.
