Value of Miami’s Community: Premiere Podcast

January 16, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

We’re excited to kick-off 2018 with a brand new podcast series in the spirit ofDesigning the WE that will regularly highlight leaders & organizations from throughout greater Miami focused on making a positive impact on our community development!

For episode #1, which falls on W.K. Kellogg Foundation‘s 2nd annualNational Day of Racial Healing #NDORH, our featured organization is Miami Shores PoC (aka South Florida PoC) and their Unity 360 Community Race Dialogue Series.

We’ll be joined by the following key speakers:

Roni Bennett, is the Founder & Executive Director of South Florida PoC. After an accomplished business career, she is devoting this part of her life to improving race relations in the South Florida community. Since being founded in 2015, South Florida PoC’s goal is to reduce racism and bigotry by providing for dialogue and personal connections across the racial divide. With a successful launch and strong support across several local communities, the group recently expanded to offer its solutions to all of South Florida.

Jordana A. Hart, is an immigration lawyer and member of the Board of Directors of South Florida PoC. She co-facilitates the Unity 360 series, with a specific interest in generating personal, and perhaps uncomfortable conversations about white privilege and supremacy across the racial divide. Jordana works on the theory that anti-racist laws & policies, while powerful, will never end systemic racism without disrupting bias and fear among and within whites, and helping us all understand how history has brought us to where we are today.

Tameka Bradley Hobbs, Ph.D. who is a lecturer at Florida Memorial University, as well as the facilitator and curriculum developer for Unity 360. In addition to her teaching experience, Dr. Hobbs has served as a researcher, writer, consultant, and director for a number of public and oral history projects in Florida and Virginia, plus she authored ‘Democracy Abroad, Lynching at Home: Racial Violence in Florida’.

You’re invited to mark your calendars for this premiere broadcast of ‘Value of Miami’s Community’, and can learn more about our partner organization at:www.southfloridapoc.org, plus check out the #NDORH movement @ http://healourcommunities.org/
